Tripura is rapidly emerging as a leading honey producing state and that is benefiting this North Eastern state in multiple ways. Not only is the state earning significant amount of revenue and bringing in substantial amount of money this way but along with that it is also generating a lot of new jobs.  Tripura’s journey towards becoming a major player in the field of honey production began in the year 2015 when Honey Processing Center was set up in Agartala. This honey processing unit was set up by Tripura Khadi and Village Industries Board and it has already started showing wonderful results. . The unit is equipped with most up to date processing machineries to improve the quality of the honey products and it is doing a great job at tapping the state’s potential in making money.

The state government is trying to increase honey production even further by promoting bee-keeping among farmers and also providing them the required training to be successful in this field. Mr. Gouri Das, who is the Chairperson of the Tripura Khadi and Village Industries Board, says that they have already trained close to 200o people in bee-keeping and they plan to add at least 700 more people to the list this year. People in various villages across the state are showing great enthusiasm as they have realized that bee-keeping is a great way to earn money and it does not even require much extra effort.  The Honey Processing Unit collects honey from the bee keeper, process it to increase its quality, and they also promote their products through various marketing strategies.
