PROPOSAL FOR IMPHAL-MANDALAY BUS SERVICE IN FINAL STAGES

Both Myanmar and India are taking steps in order to liberalize the border movements between the two countries. The proposal for Imphal-Mandalay bus service is in its final stages and it is expected to be finalized soon. This bus service has been a long term demand of the people of Manipur because over 10,000 people from this Indian state live in Myanmar. Once operational this bus service is expected to provide a big boost to the tourism between these two countries. The Imphal-Mandalay bus service will bring the travel costs down and encourage tourists from both countries to visit each other. Bodh Gaya is one location in India which is on the “want to visit” list of almost every Myanmar national. Myanmar also has a plenty of beautiful destinations that attract Indian tourists. Government expects that the private companies will also step in and start providing good services to the tourists.
