”Destination North East 2016’’ event was organized by Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The three day event took place from 12 to 14 February 2016 and was inaugurated by Union Minister of State (I/C), DoNER Dr. Jitendra Singh. Ms. Chirom Indira from Manipur was specially invited to attend the event invited as a Resource Person from DC Handlooms as well as from both Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of DoNER. She was invited due to her achievements and tremendous experience of over 20 years in the field of handlooms. She is a Designer, Exporter, and Entrepreneur who has visited many European countries for business promotion. Ms. Indira was invited to participate in a business summit on the theme of ”Growing Up Value Chain from Handlooms to Fabrics to Garments”.
The summit was held on 13th February 2016 and Ms. Indira made a speech about the importance and role of the entrepreneurs for propagating of our handlooms products to the International markets. Her speech was greatly appreciated by all the participants and so were the handlooms and handicrafts products that she displayed at the Government of Manipur stall. Her products were selected by Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to be showcased at ”Make in India week” event being held in Mumbai from February 13 to 18, 2016.
